Asthma (pulmo), allergy, and lupus + RA (rheum) can be seen as at least somewhat similar. Pulmo's also see a lot of infectious disease (TB, flu's, SARS) too. AIDS was initially pegged from a rare pneumonia (plus a rare cancer) that kept turning up in young, gay men.

The question of AIDS drugs is very important, though. Investigations will probably start at the drug makers but approval would be FDA. Will this group have, or bring in, the expertise for these drugs?

I'm hoping this is progress but nothing except concrete evidence (say, a drug approval or good research by the FDA) will convince me this isn't another way to make us disappear.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5549789856840440400.post-17830582739649181552011-01-30T15:13:14.900-06:002011-01-30T15:13:14.900-06:00Yes, if I just read the words, it looks like good ...Yes, if I just read the words, it looks like good news. Unfortunately, the past malfeasance of CDC and NIH make me so suspicious that I look for the hidden meanings - that might not be there.

I hope you're right about the immunologists' potential involvement. I look forward to the answer to my question about Ampligen. I've said elsewhere, Of course FDA can't approve it; how can they approve a drug for a disease the CDC says doesn't exist, except in our heads? So, how they treat Ampligen from now on will be a big clue. I read on the net that the company is gearing up to produce it in Mexico, but it didn't say if that would be the only location.

And I really want to know if HAART drugs for HIV are being reviewed by DPARP. Someone (Prof Rancaniello?) has said there are lots of drugs "on the shelf" that didn't turn out to be effective against HIV, but might be against XMRV or related MLVs.oerganixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12870957662833413723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5549789856840440400.post-57220201118978545542011-01-30T14:44:12.415-06:002011-01-30T14:44:12.415-06:00Interesting. I think your analysis is right on- while ME doesn't really fall under pulminology, at least it's not a move to push everything for "CFS" under psychology and psychotherapy. However, the fact that they must be looking at drugs to treat ME is a good sign, I think.

The article mentions "allergies," though. I wonder if that means that there are immunologists involved? THAT could be good news. If that's the case, perhaps they are leaving out the word "immunology" to avoid controversy?Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15945212797250620005noreply@blogger.com
